18th/19th century, oil on board, the young King depicted standing holding the staff with a globus cruciger set on the table beside, framed in an18th century or earlier carved, gilt wood ‘Auricular’ frame, a type associated with the Medici family and Pitti Palace, Italy.

Inspired by the portrait of King Edward VI in the National Portrait Gallery, London.

light crackleur, some areas of loss and rubbing from contact with the frame, loose in frame, frame with gilt loss,evidence of water damage, cracking at seams from age and small areas of loss, reverse with old holes, loss and wear from age
